Hali wanted whimsical treats to celebrate her birthday, so we saw an opportunity to go beyond expectations. What she asked for was desserts—but what we delivered was a dreamland for her and her guests.
With full creative freedom, we reimagined classic confections into a surreal faux-mirror dessert setup—where desserts weren’t just served, they told a story.
The Stars of the Show? The Cakes.
On the left: A stunning dummy cake wrapped in blush pink fondant and finished with deep green fondant detailing. We accessorized it with wireframe butterflies, delicate sugar mushrooms, edible moss, and twinkling fairy lights—a true centrepiece.
On the right: The main event—a fully edible birthday cake. A soft pink base layer stacked beneath two black tiers, detailed with sugar flowers, faux leaves, wafer paper butterflies, and gold mirror-cut fairies. Topped with a golden mirror-cut “30” to match the celebrant’s age, and elevated on a clear stand glowing with fairy lights—it was magical from every angle.
Now, Let’s Talk About the Treats:
Mushroom cupcakes—covered in red and green chocolate butter cream and topped with fondant mushrooms
Donuts – Fluffy donuts dipped in green and pink colored chocolate, sprinkled with edible glitter and sugar décor.
“Drink Me” potions—a nod to fairy tales, with bubbly cocktails and non-alcoholic elderflower drinks in tiny potion bottles.
Lemon tarts shaped like photo frames, and cookie easels holding striped fondant frames made to look like golden artwork.
A tree stump cake, generously coated in chocolate ganache, topped with edible moss and sugar mushrooms—an earthy delight!
Brownie cakesicles dipped in pink chocolate ganache, pretty and perfect.
Chocolate flower pots—with edible moss and even real plants for a magical touch.
Mini trifles served in glass fishbowls, complete with edible plants, and placed on light-filled acrylic cylinders for a floating effect.
And of course, a lush fruit basket of grapes, pomegranates, pineapples, and clementines added the final fresh touch.
